Hisui Base Camp

Camp site

The campsite is situated in the grassy juncture of waterways beside an abandoned Bibarel dam, near the Heartwood of the Obsidian Fieldlands. Amenities are few, to be perfectly honest. There's clean, fresh water, and a large firepit at the center of camp for cooking, but other than that, there are few luxuries to be found. The Gingko Guild has hustled and made sure there are enough tents for everybody! Sure, they might not be as fancy as modern tents, but you won't be sleeping directly on the dirt and will keep you dry if it rains.

Of course, ideally, you all won't be staying here long enough to need more amenities than this, but if anyone has some thoughts on how to make the campsite more comfortable during your stay, feel free to suggest them to the Gingko Guild representatives. Who knows, you might get a reward for your efforts.

(assuming you are also the person putting your idea into action -- the Guild is already doing a lot for you guys here, okay)

One corner of the camp has been cordoned off for Cara Liss and her machine. She won't accept help (beyond retrieving the missing parts of the machine), so for the most part, all you can do is watch as she takes out parts of the machine, rotates them, before putting them back in, all with a frown on her face. On occasion, she even manages to shock herself doing this, even though there is no apparent source of electricity!

Let's just... let her work.

Additions

Heated Shower: It's rather basic, but through Sion's efforts, the camp now has a hot water shower. Mind you, the water is rather limited and needs to be heated up by a fire pokemon, but if you have grown sick of washing yourself in the cold stream waters, this might be just the thing for you!

Quest board

A large wooden board covered in slips of paper can be found in the centre of the camp, next to the wagon of the Gingko Guild representatives. Anyone who is looking for some work or for a quick way to earn some cash can take any of the jobs posted on the board. Admittedly, they aren't all glamorous jobs. In fact, most are those simple, repeating tasks that come with running any camp of this size. Now you might not have pictured your trip to the past coming with chores like cooking, cleaning, and collecting firewood and edible plants, but this is reality -- there is no UBIRD Eats to order fast food from. If you want to live in (relative) comfort, you'll need to contribute to the camp.

Thankfully though, you won't be putting in unpaid time here. Though the rewards aren't much, the Gingko Guild will compensate you for your time with either money or items.

However, on occasion, slips of paper in red ink will appear on the board as well -- these are special tasks. They come with bigger rewards, but they also come with a lot more danger. Whether it is dealing with a dangerous Alpha Pokemon or travelling further out to collect some part of Cara Liss' machine, anyone wanting to take these tasks will first need to talk to a Gingko Guild representative. The Guild wants to make sure you've got what it takes before handing over all the details. They don't want your mission to need a rescue mission!

For the standard missions, we are not looking to micromanage your characters here. You won't need to report what your character is doing (though feel free to use these as prompts/suggestions what your character may be up to) and unless you are getting egregious with it, we won't be looking over your purchases either. You shouldn't be able to buy an evolution stone on your second day, but if you want to get one after a week of hard work, go for it.

Generally speaking, characters can easily accomplish one standard mission per day (and still have plenty of time left over to explore / relax / train their Pokemon) or they can really hustle and complete two standard missions (but be fairly limited in the amount of free time they have).

For the special Missions, there will be a sign-up. We'll aim to put up plenty of special missions so everybody has a chance to participate if they want to. Generally speaking, these missions will need some team work, and will take longer to complete than the standard missions, and thus the resulting rewards will be much larger too.

Camp Store

With villages like Jubilife firmly off limits, anyone who wants to purchase an item or two will have to turn to the representatives of the Gingko Guild. Their stock is a bit limited, especially compared to what you might be used to in the future, but at least they aren't taking advantage of their shopping monopoly.

Editing to clarify that this (and the original sign-up) isn't meant to read in any part as a strategy, simply the points of strength as asked for by the mission posting to help pick between applicants; as noted in the original entry, the trio of Yuuya, Yuzu, and Gongenzaka are collectively inclined to try peaceful options, smarter, and also tank a hit in the worst case scenario in the case of the latter. IF AKARI HISUI POKEMON CAN TAKE A BLOW AND KEEP RUNNING, SO CAN NOBORU THE MAN GONGENZAKA!!!
Edited (Apparently there was confusion on if this was a strategy submission so erring on the side of caution to edit) 2022-07-12 04:51 (UTC)

It is a brilliant, sunny day when the trio that are Noboru Gongenzaka, Yuuya Sakaki, and Yuzu Hiiragi, head to the Cobalt Coast, and it is on that day that the Ginko Guild is either going to end up especially baffled by their visitors from the future, or maybe just a little more resigned and tired. Perhaps things like this are why so many major names in modern Sinnoh are exhausted. They inherited it over the generations. Regardless-

The goal; get that large Thing out from the mass of vines that is Tangrowth. The location? Pretty good for that kind of task, if you ask Yuuya!

1 - Before anyone can really do more than set up camp nearby and prepare to plan (it's a good thing Yuzu and Gongenzaka thought to borrow some stuff from the Guild honestly), Yuuya is off. Leaving his tiny bitty Oshawot at the side of the overlooking rocks, he starts climbing until he's not so far above the Tangrowth. He just has to aim properly. Brace himself. Jump!

psHCWHHHHHHHEEEEE-

Tangrowth hits immediately!

Gongenzaka, not keen on losing his friend to the shore line, leaps for the catch!

...

And misses!

Oshawott meanwhile watches all of this and lifts a singular scallop to the air. 1/10 Scallops for trying fellas. Or maybe that's 'Attempt 1'? Hmm.

Regardless, the only thing saving Gongenzaka from an attempted strike 2 (though the ease of launching The Man is probably not nearly as present as it was with Yuuya) ends up being Yuzu herself- who gets right in front of the guy and starts telling off the Tangrowth before her on instinct. Tangrowth, frankly, is stunned. The gang flees in the confusion.

Whoops! Whoops! But maybe there was something to that.

2 - Gongenzaka determines that if Yuzu was able to just stand there and yell at the thing, maybe diplomacy can be the answer! He approaches the Tangrowth respectfully. The Tangrowth in turn stares.

And prepares to fight.

Gongenzaka braces himself, because he's Gongenzaka. Vines swing. Gon just kind of takes it, like a champ. A champ that won't be seeing Jubilife's medical wing since no one's allowed in Jubilife, and someone should maybe remind him of that fact. But the first and only strike also knocks free a series of mushrooms!

...Tangrowth likes the idea of those. Gongenzaka, thinking quickly, offers them immediately. Mushrooms for everyone! Soon they're just chilling. Eating mushrooms. The Tangrowth is falling asleep. Now is the cha-

...

Tangrowth has fallen asleep over the area the part is stuck.

(Gongenzaka returns to his camp in shame.)

3 - Well with that whole deal, the gang realizes that sleep might be a pretty good idea actually! All they have to do is make sure it doesn't fall asleep ON the part again! So after a night's rest, Yuzu sends out Petilil wrapped up in Aromatherapy, hoping to use some spore moves to put the Tangrowth to sleep.

Tangrowth doesn't seem to really notice Petilil, on account of her being something like a foot tall next to its 7 plus. Which is good.

Because Tangrowth is immune to the spore moves. After throwing enough dust in the air to make someone wonder if they're not in the middle of spring pollen season, Yuzu calls the little gal back before things can get worse.

Maybe they ought go back to the basics here.

4 - Maybe Yuuya was on to something.

(This is how people can tell the gang is on their last legs.)

Maybe, just maybe, jump attacking this thing really is the answer. Whether it is or isn't, Yuzu at least decides to try. Yuuya after all, has been designated baseball practice on sight. Gongenzaka meanwhile is frankly enormous, and probably shouldn't try climbing any of these trees. Something is bound to work, if they just try it enough.

So off they go. Setting up outside Tangrowth zone, preparing for some plan, any plan-

...annnnnnd whatever those plans were, they're over, because Tangrowth just took a watergun to the backside and is chasing after Yuuya's oshawott with reckless abandon. Turns out Oshawott wants to help too! Unfortunately, Oshawott is Small. Yuuya charges after to try and save the day. Gongenzaka charges because frankly, last time this happened, they had to ask themselves if the local basculegion was going to literally ferry a soul to the afterlife.

Ulitmately what they get is an idiot sandwich, as Oshawott is smacked into Yuuya who's smacked into Gongenzaka who just kind of falls backward because look guys even he gets thrown off balance some times, and Yuzu has to pull a repeat moment of shouting at the Tangrowth until they can make like an Abra and vanish.

Yuzu, they are realizing, is remarkably immune to this Tangrowth's anger.

...

hey wait a minute-

FINAL ATTEMPT - After a lot of convincing and some artful work to make a grass skirt from Yuuya, the gang is certain that This time will work. Mushrooms are shoved in her arms as a peace offering. Grass is tied up in her pigtails, while she looks at her friends with what could possibly be the eyes of a froslass bent on revenge. Yuzu is soon sent forward, arms open, smile forced. And with that...

An accord can be reached.

Tangrowth seems plenty happy to let Yuzu get close at this point, and leaving it with the mushrooms, she crawls around to its behind to gently ease the machine part out. Tangrowth doesn't even really do anything once the job is done. Tangrowth has mushrooms, and also a nice weird pink flower girl here. Tangrowth, frankly, is pleased. Everyone Wins! Maybe.

They head back with the part as soon as they have it in any case. No one wants to be around baseball zone any longer, frankly.
